On June 15th 1991,in Birmingham England,
the I.O.C,decided that Nagano City, Japan
will host the 1998 Winter Olympics.
In order to commemorate this decision,
we have designed our Rotary banner using
the five Olimpic colors.
The blue above represents the high clear
sky, the blue below the Chikuma River.
Golden yellow represents the rippening
fields of rice. The characters for Mount
Tateshina, a symbol of this area, are in
black, as well as our chapter's name.
Green stands for the abundant nature all
around us. The red is the heart, soul and
passion of the people here. Finally, the
Kakuma River flowing to the Chikuma River
and the horse are symbols of the energy of
the people of this area. This area of Japan
was famous for raising horses for more than
a thausand years.
