TATESHINA Rotary Club has 2 towns of Mochiduki-machi,Tateshina-machi and 2 villages of Asashina-mura,Kitamimaki-mura in its territory.
This region is a farming area from the ancient times, which is formed with gradual slope of the northern side of Mt.Tateshina(height 2,530m) and flat plateau. Some streams that have their fountainheads in Mt.Tateshina, artificial stream that was opened in Edo era wet the paddy field of 4 towns and villages, and flow into Chikuma river that runs the north end of this region.
In the area centered on Gorinkubu of Tateshina-machi, apple cultivation from latter of Meiji era, and in past 20 years, stockbreeding of cow,pig etc.have been flourished. Ginseng is a unique product of this region,too. From 30 years ago,the area from height 1,000m to 2,000m of Mt.Tateshina has been developed as a sight-seeing resort and it increases bustle year after year and brakes the depopulation of this region. Especially, the areas that are situated from Tateshina ranch to Shirakaba lake and Ohkawara pass neighborhood,have been developed synthetically as the place of resort and villa.In its lower part there are 4 golf courses in Mochizuki-machi and 1 course in Tateshina-machi.
In the field of industry, many factories producing car engines or electronic compornent parts come to this territory.And they absorb labor force that parted from agriculture.
Now, that a vent was opend even Usui pass which used to be a dangerous path, Johshin-etsu superhighway was opened,and this autumn the operation of Hokuriku bullet train will start, the development of tourrism and leisure is expected to be facilitated.
In summer season (from May to October), Golf club house becomes Our Regular Meeting Place.
